Do You Actually Need a Website in 2026?

Everyone selling websites says yes. Here is when that is true, when a Google listing is genuinely enough, and how to tell which one you are.

Everybody who sells websites says you need one. We sell websites! So take what's below with that in mind, and here's the really honest version anyway.

Sometimes you genuinely do not need one yet! It depends on how people find you and what they do next.

When you can wait

If every customer comes from someone you know, and you're as busy as you want to be, a Google Business Profile is genuinely enough! It's free, it puts you on the map, and it takes an afternoon.

Same if you're testing an idea. Don't buy a site for a business you might not run in six months! Get five customers first. That's a much better use of the money, and honestly a great way to find out if the idea works.

When the lack of one is costing you

Somebody hears about you and searches your name. What do they find? If the answer is a Facebook page from 2019 or nothing at all, you're losing people who were already sold!

That's the moment a site really earns its money. Not for discovery, for confirmation. The person searching you already wants to hire you, and they're just checking whether you're real.

The three questions that decide it

Do people search your business by name? Do you ever hear 'I couldn't find you online'? Are you competing against businesses that do have sites?

Two yeses and you're losing work you already earned! That's the point where the arithmetic gets very easy, because one recovered customer usually pays for the whole site.

What a small business site really needs

Less than you think! What you do, where you are, how to reach you, and enough proof that you're a real business. That's genuinely it.

A brochure site does that job perfectly, and it's what Brennan Builds builds. You pick a template, tell us about your business, and we deploy it for you. One payment, no monthly fee, and full refund if you cancel before we start building.

If you decide to wait

That's a real answer and not a failure! Claim your Google listing, get some great reviews, and keep your photos somewhere you can find them.

Then when you do want a site, you'll have the hard parts ready. That's absolutely the best possible position to start from!

Before you spend anything, see where your site stands.

If you already have a website, this checks it against the things that decide whether somebody searching for you finds it and stays. Type the address and you get the score straight away. It is free, and you get the result without giving us anything.

One public page. We look at it once, from our server. No crawling, nothing installed!
